"1 in 7 People Now Have Alzheimer's!"
This alarming statistic was reported on September 26, 2009 by Dr. Gupta on CNN's "House Call" program. Alzheimer's disease is spreading rapidly in the United States, and Dr. Gupta has said repeatedly that they don't know what is causing it!
My research has shown there are a number of things that can contribute or cause this horrible wasting away of brain function! I believe the biggest culprit comes from what we drink, and what we eat -- plus what we don't eat enough of to nourish our brain.
In June, 2009, Dr. Gupta reported there were 76,000 new Alzheimer's cases in the United States in the past year. That was shocking, because the USA has more cases than any country!
Could this have anything to do with America's love for FAST FOOD? Yes, I believe it does! Our lifestyle has nearly eliminated cooking dinner at home. Many mother's work and rush home to fix burgers and chips, or orders pizza, or stops at a drive through for a take out meal. The lack of fresh vegetables or fruits shows up by causing health problems - including memory loss.
For the last ten years, we were told that 4 to 5 million people in America had Alzheimer's. The figure didn't change, yet, the the disease was increasing rapidly. In August, the Alzheimer's Association issued a new report. The latest statistics state:
"Every 70 Seconds someone in the USA is diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease."
Dr. Gupta talked about the “Epidemic” of Alzheimer’s and how fast it is growing. He warned, Alzheimer's disease is now striking people in their Twenties!! He stressed concern that America doesn’t have enough hospitals, enough nurses, nor enough nursing homes to care for the expected huge increases in Alzheimer patients! He always reminds us: “There is no cure, as yet.”
